The Iyai+ Board and team salute retired Founding Board Member, Theodore “Ted” Basta for his extraordinary contributions to the organization’s formation and early period of operation. A renowned senior-executive public transportation professional of 40 years, including 30 years at the New York City Transit Authority heading the Brooklyn and Queens Surface Transit Divisions, serving as Chief Administrative Officer and Interim Vice President, Surface Transit; followed by executive management positions at MARTA (Atlanta) and the MBTA (Boston), “Ted” brought his exceptional leadership, dedication to mission and commitment to excellence to his work on the Iyai+ Board of Directors.
Founder Bev Scott, a long-time colleague and friend summed it up: “I cannot begin to adequately express what an exceptional experience it has been to work with Ted throughout the years. He is a consummate professional with the highest ethical standards – and a heart as big as they come! There is no replacing Ted. And Iyai+ is better for all his work. Still, as much as we all miss him, we cannot help but wish he and his family all of the best “Basta” fun during a much-deserved retirement.”
